the devil and the detail |
"The Devil is in the Detail" - it is in the small things you find the root of big problems. Originally, the saying was "Le bon Dieu est dans le detail" as often used by Gustave Flaubert (1821-1880). It is unknown whether the expression goes further back, and it is also unknown why the devil was brought into the picture. Why devils?Because some problems are annoying recidivists that bothers you incessantly, and can be very difficult to eradicate. Those problems I have called "devils" And the most common of those, I have called "The Eight Devils". Those are the ones I known particularly well, and because I know them so well, I can help you get rid of them. Why details?Because some people have a tendency towards big words and little action - and other keeps doggedly on the task until it is solved - really solved. I belong in the stubborn category. I have a sense of detail, and I am also a big fan of the not introducing too many of them - the "Keep it simple, stupid", KISS, principle. |
